The general public will be able to reserve wildlife bungalows and camping sites in national parks via internet from today.
The launching ceremony will take place at the head office premises of the department of Wildlife Conservation on 18th February at 4.30 pm under the patronage of the Minister of Wildlife Resources Conservation Hon. Gamini Vijith Wijayamuni Zoysa and the Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology Hon. Ranjith Siyambalapitiya with the participation of Presidential Secretary Mr. Lalith Weerathunga .
Wildlife enthusiasts in local and worldwide will greatly benefit from the introduction of this online service. Payment for the reservation could be made through credit cards and mobile phones. In the past local tourists had to come to head office of the DWC to make a bungalow reservation. There are 38 wildlife bungalows and 40 camping sites available in the national parks .The number of local and foreign tourists visiting wildlife parks annually exceeds 1.2 millions.
DWC in collaboration with Information and Communication Technology Agency of Sri Lanka are implemented this online service.
